While Google’s Android operating system dominates the smartphone operating system market, the tech company still makes a point to have their own “Google phones” released to serve as the inaugural carrier of their latest improvements to the popular OS. Far from the prepaid cell phone status of the seemingly ancient G1, the Samsung Galaxy Nexus is including a sweetened version of Android, dubbed Ice Cream Sandwich. The new OS is allegedly leaps and bounds ahead of it’s most recent ancestor, Honeycomb 3.2, by combining its best attributes with those of Gingerbread. The improvements revealed by Google are nothing short of remarkable – on paper.

For one, the approach to Ice Cream Sandwich has been to make the smartphone experience more like the experience of a tablet computer. Icons are much more customizable, widgets can vary in size, images can be viewed in enlarged format (especially so on the Galaxy Nexus’s 4.65-inch screen), and buttons have been removed from the interface. In fact, Ice Cream Sandwich will be the first version of Android that can be used on both smartphones and tablet devices.

The new Apple iPhone 4S has been revealed with the hardware improvement. This iPhone 4S equiped with updated Apple A5 dual-core 1GHz processor and reportedly comes with 512 RAM for better multi-tasking. Donald Mustard, the creative director for Chair Entertainment, accidentally said that the iPhone 4S will be a really powerful computer in pocket. You can record 1080p video, get 8 megapixel camera, 64GB hard disk space, A5 processor chip, and 512 MB of memory. However, actually it is not the highest RAM capacity.

To realize the smooth multi-tasking performance, it’s not only from the RAM capacity. The ability of the mobile OS in handling applications in the background and working for multi-tasking also affect it. The basic coding and design to manage resources will show the overall performance. However, many people wait the next step of the iPhone to have 768MB RAM or more. The 512MB will also good to do high performance in small device.

Recently HTC company has just unveiled the new affordable HTC Explorer. Priced at around €223 or $297 via UK retailer Clove. If you didn’t knew about it, the Explorer is a Android 2.3 smartphone powered by a 600MHz processor and available in Metallic Black, Active Black and Metallic Navy.

HTC Explorer specifications include a 3.2-inch touchscreen, a 3 Megapixel camera, 512MB of ROM, Sense UI, HSDPA, Wi-Fi, GPS, 3.5mm headset jack, Bluetooth 3.0 and HTC Sense UI for intuitive use and Smart Dialer for making phone calls easily.

I recently sold my mobile to a mobile phone recycling company and bought my first Nokia smartphone to enjoy the latest features including its digital download services. As recently announced by the company, over five millions of Ovi store content are accessed every day by the mobile users across the world. It’s the highest since the store was launched 3 years back and the content has grown eight times higher in the last one year.

In its recent blog, Nokia has announced that several new features will be available to the Ovi store very soon and the increasing popularity of in-app payments is responsible for this. Around one million of daily downloads were made from the Ovi Store to Nokia smartphones running on Symbian platform last year which has now gone up five times more, according to the industry experts.

More than 150 million Nokia mobile phones with Ovi Store access are expected to be sold worldwide in 2011, which clearly shows that over two billion downloads will be made from the store by this yearend. Despite the lukewarm response received from the critics, Nokia’s newly upgraded Symbian platform have created a lot of interest amongst the consumers like us, who can now access Ovi store on these affordable handsets.
